Frequently asked questions
One of the most important credentials of an educational consultant is direct, full-time experience working in a decision-making capacity in a university admissions office setting. My industry experience covers a broad range of education. This unique perspective helps me understand what schools are actually in range for my clients and the strategic steps they should take to get there. I do not believe in a cookie-cutter approach to finding the right educational setting. I offer different levels of customized support depending on the unique goals of each student.
It is never too early to start thinking about college. You can maximize your child's choices in curriculum, intellectual interests, extracurricular activities, and summer enrichment by planning early. Admission committees want to see a well-rounded applicant with demonstrated success over the course of their entire high school career and beyond. I work with k-12 students through post-graduate college years.
A sample of recent admission placements for my clients include:
Vanderbilt, Brown, Harvard, UNC Chapel Hill, Duke, University of Virginia, Dartmouth, MIT, University of Chicago, Cornell, Princeton, Wake Forest, UC Berkeley, UCLA, University of Southern California, Georgia Tech, MIT, Northwestern University, UT Austin, Rice, Johns Hopkins, Emory, Virginia Tech, Purdue, Indiana, Michigan, Florida, Georgia, UIUC, Tufts, RISD, Tennessee, A&M, Maryland, Washington University, Georgetown, Northeastern, University of Pennsylvania, Columbia, Stanford, Columbia, Yale, Cal Tech, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Boston College, Boston University, Pomona, Pepperdine, Tulane, Washington and Lee, Claremont McKenna, Swarthmore, NYU, Fordham, St. Andrews, Oxford, in addition to many other private and public colleges.
A full list can be found here.
According to a U.S. Department of Education Guidance School survey, over-stretched school guidance counselors only provide an average of 38 minutes of college admissions advice per U.S. high school student. Guidance counselor caseloads continue to increase each year, potentially lessening the amount of time spent with individual students.
I work with students who attend public schools and private schools. I also work with homeschool students.
Competition for admission is at an all-time high. Students are applying to a record amount of colleges each year, which may impact acceptance rates. Working with an educational consultant can alleviate the stress and confusion often accompanying the college planning process. It is important that students strategically plan their college applications by mapping out appropriate coursework, standardized exams, robust resume building, recommendations, portfolio development (if applicable), and interview preparation.
